Waihi Beach Bach

A change of family lifestyles, necessitated an expansion of holiday and weekend living for two families based in Hamilton, and configured separately on this east coast beach section. This build led to the demolition of an old 1940's bach, to be replaced with two "cost and fast tracked" delivery focussed beach houses, each capable of sleeping ten people. The two dwellings, are designed with a Pacific Rim beach buree influence, utilising generously curved roofs, high interior ceilings, exposed supporting timber poles, and slatt sunscreening. The exterior materials are simple and cost effective, but used with confidence including black Onduline wall cladding, contrasted with adjacent bright Pacific colour pallete painted Linea weatherboards. The northern sun cycle is used advantageously, covering the 10metre by 6metre outdoor lounge sun terrace. The terrace is accessed through a six metre wide mulitfold door composition, opening the entire interior onto the barbeque and hammock covered exterior.
