Pakiri Point Lodge, Pakiri Beach, Auckland.
An extended family of eight from Auckland, wanted a calming retreat out of the hustle and bustle of the large city, allowing them to spend time away from their various business entities. Further, the family dreamed of a boutique retreat aesthetic and floor layout, allowing them to run the design solution as a five star accommodation lodge. Set high above the Pacific Ocean, and configured with five Bedroom/Ensuite suites, each suite is spread along the edge of a cliff edge, and linked to a central Day and Night Lounge, Dining, Conservatory and Kitchen. Skinned in natural stone, Cedar weatherboards and copper roof and trim, the lodge mellows into the surrounding landscape with a single storey composition, exposed to a distant ocean panorama. Rainwater harvesting, solar panels and heavy insulation, create an all year round comfort delivery, allowing the family and their guests to enjoy that desired peace and tranquillity. The project won a Registered Master Builders GOLD Award.
